It was with great pleasure that Julie and I attended the wedding of our close friends Lucy and Paul at Drumtochty castle over the weekend and what can I say apart from WOW…. what an amazing wedding. Julie was on duty as a bridesmaid and I was free from photographing in an official capacity and instead kicked back to enjoy the day – but of course I couldn’t leave my camera at home!
The wedding was held at Drumtochty Castle, Auchenblae, in Scotland. I have been to many wedding venues around the country and I have to say that Drumtochty Castle is easily one of the best, if not the best. It’s simply amazing. The venue is only available for exclusive hire which means you don’t have the usual public traffic associated with other wedding venues. As guests you have the run of the place giving the feel of a family home even though everything is taken care of for you. The staff are fantastic and the general manager Ewan Kirkpatrick is a legend. God only knows where he gets his energy from. If you’re looking for a wedding venue and haven’t seen Drumtochty… you must go and check it out!
Being free from photographing in an official capacity allowed me to experiment and shoot from the hip while David ran around like a lunatic looking like I normally do at a wedding. I’ve been following David’s work for about a year and his images are simply beautiful. David and I managed to get some time to hang out on the day and it was a real pleasure to meet a photographer with a passion equal to mine.
I can’t wait to get back to Drumtochty Castle to shoot a wedding. If you’re planning on getting married there… give us a call. (0800 043 3405)
Congratulations to Lucy and Paul!
