I had a lot of fun on Sarah & Matthew’s engagement shoot where we captured some great images from around Sheffield. For the wedding however we exchanged the gritty background of Sheffield alleyways for the more classical location of Whirlowbrook Hall.
Whirlowbrook Hall is located just outside Sheffield in South Yorkshire and is a beautiful setting for a wedding. The staff were incredibly helpful and polite, the grounds are stunning and the Hall itself has a very intimate feel. It was this intimacy that Sarah and Matthew wanted for their wedding both in terms of the day and the photography. For this reason they requested a strong bias towards my documentary style with only a sprinkling of relaxed portraits. This meant no official group photos but instead focussing on capturing the day through my eyes and the cameras lens and in doing so I was able to capture some cracking moments.
Speaking of moments, the rain which had held off for most of the day decided to make a spectacular appearance during the speeches. Typical! A quick dash inside and the speeches resumed. That said, it did make for some fun photos as we all made a dash for shelter.
For those of you who are interested in wedding stationary you should speak directly with Sarah. Not only did Sarah source all the materials but she also designed and handmade the lot. I’m sure having worked for a paper company (where they met) helped, but the quality of the finish was on par with the professional. Very impressive. Wild flower seeds as table favours were also a nice detail.
Below are some of my favourites from the day. Friends and family can view all the images on our gallery which is at www.randallweddings.co.uk/store. Please ask Sarah or Matthew for the password or get in contact with us at the studio.
