Ellingham Hall is a stunning privately owned stately home in Northumberland than can be hired for exclusive use and is a perfect venue for a romantic wedding – exactly what Sarah & Begna had planned.

Friends and family had travelled from all over the world to be with Sarah and Begna on their wedding day and both Julie and I were thrilled to be part of such a magical occasion.

Claire & Owen Wedding – Clearwell Castle, Gloucestershire

Another fab wedding from last year this time at Clearwell Castle which is situated in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire. Clearwell is a beautiful location and definitely up there with some of my favourite venues.

Amanda & Nick Wedding – The Montagu Arms Hotel, Beaulieu in Hampshire

The Montagu Arms Hotel, which is located in Beulieu in the New Forest, is a small but intimate venue and perfect for Amanda and Nick who wanted a relaxed wedding with just their close friends and family. It was great to see some familiar faces at the wedding and a complete shock to see Fran and Malc who were in Paris with Julie and I when we got engaged! Crazy.

Louise & Adam Wedding – Peckforton Castle Hotel, Cheshire

Another fantastic wedding at Peckforton Castle Hotel in Cheshire. A beautiful venue with the added benefit of having their own falconry. What does that mean… how about an owl as a ring bearer? On Louise and Adam’s wedding the owl got a little confused and decided to make friends with the registrar :-)

Sarah & Graham – West Tower House, Ormskirk, Lancashire

It’s has been a crazy past 6 months and we’re so far behind with the blog that it’s not even funny. So, in an attempt to make amends I’m going to be blogging some of our favourite images from 2010 that never made it online. Posts may be become short and snappy for a while but I hope you enjoy the images.

First up is one of our favourite weddings from 2010 – Sarah at Graham – who were married at St John the Baptist in Burscough followed by a reception at West Tower Hotel in Ormskirk.

This was a seriously fun day. Absolutely loved shooting Sarah & Grahams wedding. Thanks for asking us to be part of your day.

Helene & Matthew Wedding – Chatsworth House, Derbyshire

On the 24th July Julie and I had the pleasure of photographing Helene & Matthew’s wedding at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire. Although we have photographed at Chatsworth on a number of occasions, this was the first time we’ve been there specifically for a wedding and we were very excited about the prospect of having the run of the grounds. It was also a very special day for the both of us as the 24th July is our wedding anniversary. Helene and Matthew surprised us with a beautiful box of chocolates on the day and it’s great to know that we now share the same anniversary as Helene and Matthew.

We started the day with Helene at The Cavendish Hotel which is on the Chatsworth Estate. It’s a beautiful boutique hotel and is worth a visit if just for the custom tiling in the gents toilets – sounds weird I know but trust me on this one, it’s very cool.

The wedding was held at the famous crooked spire church in Chesterfield. The service was conducted by Canon Michael Knight and as much as I had hoped, sadly there wasn’t a black car parked outside and he didn’t wear a black leather jacket :( Gutted.

After the service Matthew drove Helene to Chatsworth in an Austin Healey Sprite and on arrival Thomas Ryder-Booth, who coordinates all the weddings, took us on a white knuckle ride around the grounds to hit our photo locations in record time. It was hilarious! Jules and I were on the back of the buggy which we quickly discovered took the brunt of the bumps. Luckily we made it back in one piece for the wedding breakfast and party.

Angela & James Wedding Photos – Midland Hotel, Manchester

It was great to head over to Manchester last month for Angela and James’s wedding. We’re based just over the Pennines so it’s a short beautiful drive over the Woodhead pass which I always find inspiring.

Angela and her bridesmaids got ready at her parents home which turned out to be a photographer’s dream. Angela’s father is fascinated by World War II and the house was like a museum containing interesting books, pictures, artefacts and memorabilia. As a child who was dragged around war graves in France and Belgium I felt very much at home and enjoyed a lengthy discussion with Angela’s dad on his passion. Anyway, back to the photography :-)

After the ceremony we stopped at Castlefield for the bride and groom portraits. It’s a favourite location of mine so it didn’t take long to capture some fantastic images before we headed on to the Midland Hotel.

Louise & Adam Pre-Wedding Photos – Rossendale

It was great to hook up with Louise and Adam who are getting married at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire this month. I’m seriously looking forward to their wedding, from the brief I already know it going to be an amazing day with some cool surprises which you’ll have to wait for :-) I’m sworn to secrecy.

All these images were captured in Louise and Adam’s garden and it goes to show what can be created with a simple yet lush backdrop. I just love the intensity of the greens.

For the photography geeks the individual portraits were shot at f/1.2 on the 50mm. I’ve be playing around with shooting at f/1.2 much more recently and although critical focusing is key to successful images, the results are sublime.

Julia & James Wedding Photos – Hassop Hall, Derbyshire

For a while now Stewart and I have been trying to work out how to create blog posts which are more creative and show more of our work without taking ages in Photoshop to put together. Thanks to Lightroom 3 we think we’ve come up with a neat solution. So, a bit of change for this blog – we hope you like it.

First to get the new treatment is Julia and James’ beautiful wedding at Hassop Hall in Derbyshire. Weather was perfect, Julia and James were fantastic and we had a truly great day.

Check out the dress girls, it’s a good one.
Boys, the car isn’t too bad either! :-)

For the photographers… you may notice some images have a ’35mm’ look, that’s because Stewart is in love with his new Canon 35mm f1.4 which made an appearance at the start of the day and stayed for pretty much most of the wedding.

Sarah & Scott Wedding Photos – Bagden Hall, Yorkshire

Sarah & Scott are a fun and very loving couple. There was a great atmosphere throughout their entire wedding day and I don’t think I’ve seen a bride as excited as Sarah at the prospect of getting married. It was also great to be back at Bagden Hall again, especially as we were blessed with such a glorious sunny day.
